Carpe Diem
- "Oh, how I long for the fountain of youth,
- To daily grow younger, not older.
- I wish I could go back to live in my youth,
- Through its fields to frolick forever.
-
- "But now it is gone!!, no more to recover,
- All that time that I let go to waste.
- Oh, why was I foolish to give up the laughter
- And fun of my youth and to not seize the day?"
-
- So have I cried as I've walked through adulthood
- Surrounded by others like me
- Who long to go back and to walk through their childhood,
- To just let their spirits fly free.
-
- But, 'tis never too late for that old "carpe diem"
- As long as you have breath to breathe.
- For, of youth, there's a fountain in which you can swim;
- And, moment by moment, each day you can seize.
-
- Seize, when you wake,
- Every day at the dawn.
- Or soon 't will be late
- And the day will be gone.
-
- Every moment seize and savor;
- Make the most of every day.
- The simple things of life just treasure.
- For you may not have another day.
-
- Don't mourn for yesterday
- Or fret o'er the future.
- For a waste of today
- Is a loss of great treasure.
-
- Mourning and worry will make you age faster
- And will quickly waste your life away.
- So, dearly hold onto life's wonderful treasure;
- And, beginning right now, seize this precious day.
-
- For as, daily, you practice that wise "carpe diem,"
- Inside you will truly grow younger.
- And, as you awaken the child within,
- Your visage will also grow younger.
