San Diego Broadband Initiative

(SDBI)

ACES is proud to be a partner with The San Diego Futures Foundation to implement the San Diego Broadband Initiative (SDBI).

 

This program can provide a free desktop computer with a flat panel monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse to recipients that meet the following requirements:

1. Recipient must be considered low income (Less than $1000/person/household).

    To meet this requirement, the recipient must prove low income by residing in affordable housing, receive
    SSI payments, unemployment payments, or Medicare, or receive free/ reduced school lunch.

2. Recipient must meet at least 1 legal documentation requirement:

a. Social Security Number (Card or Document of Proof).
    Document of proof can include: W-2; 1099; Paycheck stub with name and address; Medicare Card;
    Military I.D.; Selective Service Document, etc.
b. U.S. Passport
c. Birth Certificate
d. Alien Resident Card, Alien Resident Card Receipt (Green Card)
e. Property tax bill
f. Voter Registration Information

3. Recipient must obtain home high speed Internet access prior to receiving computer.

    SDBI may be able to provide Internet discounts.

4. Recipient must successfully pass a pre-assessment test, or take an 8 hour computer course.
